The kids had fall break last week so we decided to take a quick trip to San Diego.
It was kind of a spur-of-the-moment trip...as spur of the moment as it gets with 9 kids that is. In other words; at least a week of packing and preparing.
I was exhausted by the time we were finally all loaded up and I was beginning to wonder why in the world we were doing this, but we ended up having a lot of fun.
We couldn't have asked for nicer weather...cool in the mornings and evenings, but nice and sunny during the rest of the day.
We mostly hung out at the beach: playing in the sand, laying in the sand and eating lots of sand.
In retrospect, we probably won't be doing lollipops on the beach again.
Although, if texture is your thing ...

Isaiah broke his arm last week when his older brother thought it would be fun to catapult Isaiah off of his brother's
feet.
The plan was that Isaiah would then land on his feet.. only it didn't happen as planned and a trip to the doctor happened instead.
We were very careful about protecting his cast at the beach, pulling a long sock over it and then securing a plastic bag on top of it. I can think of few things more miserable than getting sand inside the cast you will be wearing for 4 weeks.
Isaiah didn't seem to mind too much...casts are pretty cool when you're six.
Where in the World is...
Mikayla?
It kind of put me in a romantic mood and
I thought it was a great opportunity for Jerry and I to try to take some pictures together.
Those last 2 shots?
Let's just say they were all that stood between Jerry and some very hungry man-eating sharks.
The zoo was free for kids under 12 so we spent a day there as well.
We had tons fun looking at all the animals.
Not so much fun pushing strollers up the million hills they have in that place.

You got some really great pictures. You have such an amazing family. And, by the way, you are VERY photogenic -- even in pics with rabbit ears behind your head. :-)
My sister lives in San Diego, so we go visit about once per year, and I agree about those hills at the zoo!
What an awesome family adventure... You could be a model... btw
You have a gorgeous family!
But man, those sandy lollipops are giving me the willies :/
I love reading your blog. We are waiting for our fifth child (second from Ethiopia - we're with Hope, too), and it gives me hope to see you keeping your head above water with nine kids:)
Great pics! We are in Calif., about 2hrs from San Diego. You did great for a small vacation with all your kids!!! You have a beautiful family.
We are waiting for our 7th child. And we are w/Hope, via Arise Adoptions. Our baby girl is at Hope's orphanage.

Great Post and Great Pictures. Very nice.
hee hee...thanks for a huge smile on the couples photo shoot. Could he have just been worried about being as photogenic as you are maybe...?=)
An
So much fun! I LOVE the feet picture- so sweet.
And yes, cuteness can go a long way in our house too (maybe Ethiopians are taught this early in life because a sweet giggle from Dawit can make a really nasty explosive-diaper almost manageable).
PS- are my hubby and Jerry related?? I swear it's nearly impossible to get a nice picture of Rich without threatening him within inches of his life! LOL!
