Pieces

Oh, my sweet little boys...

My stash of chocolate is missing

there are wet toilet- paper balls splattered onto the bathroom window

the counter is covered with water and the soap dispenser is missing it's lid

mysterious brown smears on the wall and the garden hose is turned on again

as is the pool light
and the closet light
and the oven light
I follow a trail of broken toys
and sweep up a pile of spilled laundry detergent

all evidence leads undisputedly to you

You look at me with your big brown eyes, your round baby cheeks, your soft, curly hair

and mommy sighs

and knows
that there is nothing in this world worth
even half
as
much
as you!

I'm thinking brown smears on the wall could be worse...

We had a laundry soap incident at our house too. I came out of my room at 6am and found my three year scooping it onto the floor "making a blizzard" as he told me in his happiest voice...

I remember those days, even with just two little ones . . . don't know how you have enough energy for yours! I have a picture of Eli with a trail of dishwasher soap that he used to make a "road" from the kitchen sink to the opposite end of the house. And then there was the time he poked the end of the garden hose in through a hole in the screen door. He didn't think of pulling it out . . . just came running past us with a desperate look on his face, and ran back past a minute later with a towel! Scott and I jumped up and followed him, and found a good bit of the living room flooded. :)

oh yes, the pet water becomes a pool, all the broken toys never compare to the hugs and kisses.
