boys will be boys

There once...

were some girls...

who had some little curls.

When they were good...

they were very, very, good...

but when they were bad
they were...

ummm...cute?

And speaking of curls...

Beach babes

The kids had fall break last week so we decided to take a quick trip to San Diego.

It was kind of a spur-of-the-moment trip...as spur of the moment as it gets with 9 kids that is. In other words; at least a week of packing and preparing.
I was exhausted by the time we were finally all loaded up and I was beginning to wonder why in the world we were doing this, but we ended up having a lot of fun.

We couldn't have asked for nicer weather...cool in the mornings and evenings, but nice and sunny during the rest of the day.
We mostly hung out at the beach: playing in the sand, laying in the sand and eating lots of sand.

In retrospect, we probably won't be doing lollipops on the beach again.

Although, if texture is your thing ...

Isaiah broke his arm last week when his older brother thought it would be fun to catapult Isaiah off of his brother's
feet.
The plan was that Isaiah would then land on his feet.. only it didn't happen as planned and a trip to the doctor happened instead.

We were very careful about protecting his cast at the beach, pulling a long sock over it and then securing a plastic bag on top of it. I can think of few things more miserable than getting sand inside the cast you will be wearing for 4 weeks.

Isaiah didn't seem to mind too much...casts are pretty cool when you're six.

Judah Biruk made sure we didn't get bored by pooping in his swimsuit both days we were there.

All I can say is he's awfully lucky he's so cute!

Speaking of cuteness...

Where in the World is...

Mikayla?

Gorgeous sunsets, warm sand and waves crashing.
It kind of put me in a romantic mood and
I thought it was a great opportunity for Jerry and I to try to take some pictures together.

Those last 2 shots?

Let's just say they were all that stood between Jerry and some very hungry man-eating sharks.

The zoo was free for kids under 12 so we spent a day there as well.

We had tons fun looking at all the animals.
Not so much fun pushing strollers up the million hills they have in that place.

Ah, teenage boys...actually quite rare to capture on camera. Good thing I'm fast.

All in all a very fun- filled and educational day...

though,*ahem*...perhaps a little too educational?

Baby Face

The face of an angel, right?

Uh, huh...I thought so too.

Until I saw my lovely new tomato plants.

And my other plant...

and the window screen...

and the shower glass...(that's soap, btw)

and the broken light...

which is what happens when you throw one of these at the ceiling.

This looks innocent enough, right? You'd never know that this was the scene of a crime until you realize that there USED to be 8 bananas.

Ah, how sweet. He looks so innocent watching his daddy.

Wait for it...he's just biding his time.

Aha! Dad's back is turned for a micro second and he springs!

Success!!

Until mommy stepped in, that is.

Sooo, face of an angel?

Uhh...maybe not so much.

I sure do love him though!!
